Ursuline Sisters of Mary Immaculate lay Association ( UMILA )
The Ursuline Sisters of Mary Immaculate, who reside at the Ursuline Convent at 26, Davis Road, felt the need to revive the lay Association which was started a couple of years ago at the congregational level. It is our earnest desire to make known the charism and the rich spiritual heritage of our Foundress, Blessed Brigida of Jesus, to the people around us. This decision urged us to move forward, inviting members to join us to spread the foundress' vision and mission. On August 3lst we had a gathering of members from SCC groups of Shalom, Ave Maria, Lourdes, the Intercessory prayer groups and the Ursuline hostellers. Through a Power Point Presentation, the participants were acquainted with the UMI congregation which was founded in the year 1649 in Italy, and the present world scenario, where the UMls spread the great legacy oftheir foundress through community living, prayer and an active involvement in various ministries like — Education, Healing, Socio — pastoral and formation. Now our presence is effectively felt in four continents of the globe — Brazil in South America, Tanzania, E. Africa, Italy and India.
We were happy about the active participation and the interest shown by the participants. They appreciated the charism and the way of life and mission we, the UMIs, are involved in. They were grateful for having been invited and to know about the visionary who lived 400 years ago and whose teachings are relevant in today's world. They thanked the community for inviting them to be part of the great legacy. This association regularly meets on the third Wednesday of every month, from 5.30 — 6.30 pm. at our convent, 26/Davis Road, praying and intercedingforthe needs ofthe world.
We extend an invitation to anyone who wishes to be a lay associate of our congregation (UMILA) by praying together to be part of the Mission of Jesus Christ and of the Church in today's world.
